- Border Star is very diverse (social-economic status, ethnicity) with a high functioning PTA organization.
- They recycle, compost and also have a garden that students manage and the community can harvest.
- They have an outstanding choir that performs around the city frequently. They also offer instrumental music lessons for a fee to students during the school day.
2019-2020: Enrollment for all KCPS signature schools opens on December 4, 2018. Seats are filled on a first come, first served basis. KCPS will notify you about your offers on March 15, 2019. You have until March 29, 2019 to accept or reject an offer.
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten: Students are eligible for admission based on available seats. Students must be 3, 4 years old by August 31st to qualify for Pre-K or 5 by August 31st to qualify for kindergarten. Siblings of current families are given preference for seating.
Grades 1- 6: Previous Montessori experience is required for admission to grades 1-6. Families must attend a parent meeting upon student acceptance to the program.
Additionally, students must live within the KCPS boundaries.
Submit applications online or in person at the Board of Education building, 2901 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO 64109. Applications CANNOT be submitted at the school.
