Points of Pride
- Carver’s students leave sixth grade truly bilingual and bi-literate in both English and Spanish.
- Students in Kindergarten and Grade 1 receive virtually all of their core instruction in Spanish. In grades 2-6 Mathematics and Science are taught in Spanish, while English Language Arts (Reading and Writing) and Social Studies are taught in English. Special classes (Music, Art, Physical Education, Computers, and Library) are primarily taught in English. Spanish literacy is maintained in grades 2-6.
- Carver is proud of the diversity of its students with families having heritage from many cultures and countries. Carver’s parents are very supportive of their children’s education.
2019-2020: Enrollment for all KCPS signature schools opens on December 4, 2018. Seats are filled on a first come, first served basis. KCPS will notify you about your offers on March 15, 2019. You have until March 29, 2019 to accept or reject an offer.
Kindergarten: Students must be age 5 by August 31.
Grades 2-6: Students entering after 1st grade must be able to speak Spanish and have basic reading skills in Spanish. They will take a grade level appropriate reading screen/test in Spanish and visit informally with a Carver teacher to evaluate Spanish language in general.
Additionally, students must live within the KCPS boundaries.
Submit applications online or in person at the Board of Education building, 2901 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO 64109. Applications CANNOT be submitted at the school.
