Visit 16 SchoolAppKC Schools on School Saturday February 22
Selecting a school for a student in the Kansas City public school boundaries can be a challenge. Within the Kansas City Public Schools Boundaries, there are currently 23 public school options available for an incoming kindergartener and nearly 90 public and private schools serving K-12 students. Finding time to research school options, set up and attend school tours, and fill out applications can be overwhelming — especially when many of those activities take place during a typical work day. Determined to combat these challenges, the 16 schools participating in SchoolAppKC are on a mission to create ease and access for families searching and applying to schools.
Kansas Cities Common Application
Last year, Show Me KC Schools, in partnership with 16 participating charter schools, launched a special project called SchoolAppKC that aims to make the entire school search and application process easier for all Kansas City families. The 16 participating charter schools now accept one common application that takes less than five minutes to complete and can be easily filled out on a cell phone.
The school application deadline of March 2 is quickly approaching to apply for the 2020-2021 school year. Applications are accepted after the March 2 deadline, but the chances of a student getting into their prefered school increases significantly if the application is submitted by March 2.
Visit Kansas City’s SchoolAppKC Schools on School Saturday
SchoolAppKC not only simplifies the application process, but also helps families with the important step of visiting schools before deciding the best fit school for their students. About two weeks before the application deadline on March 2, the 16 participating schools will come together and host “School Saturday” on February 22 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Families are encouraged to visit any of the 16 schools to meet with school staff and tour the school. An opportunity like School Saturday is extremely important to many of the families who can’t attend school tours during the work week, or are interested in talking with school staff who would otherwise be occupied with students during the week.
SchoolAppKC schools have worked hard to simplify the process and increase the number of educational opportunities available for KC students. For the upcoming school year, SchoolAppKC hopes to reach as many Kansas City families as possible. Help us spread the word and visit us on social media!
