Alexis Dupree
"Working in a preschool classroom and trying to help families navigate a school system I often found myself confused. It made me realize that there was a missing piece to the puzzle and that piece was Show Me KC Schools."
A Kansas City metro area native, Alexis Dupree entered adulthood longing to assist the schools in KC to become healthier and more diverse. Upon graduating from the University of Missouri - Kansas City with her bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies, with a Journalism and Media emphasis, Alexis started that work, first working as an assistant teacher for a local Head Start program and then serving as a full-time Community Outreach volunteer through the AmeriCorps VISTA program with Show Me KC Schools. Her time as a VISTA afforded her the opportunity to develop a better understanding of her role within the growing educational space in her hometown of Kansas City. When not working in the world of education, Alexis enjoys weekend getaways with friends, a good cup of Joe, friendly 5ks…and you might even find her performing with area theater groups, singing with the Kansas City Chamber Choir, or possibly on your TV screen (don’t blink)!
