Ivan Nugent is a lawyer for Kansas City Public Schools, previously serving as a public defender for the state of Missouri. His talents in judicial court are matched by his successes on the basketball court. A Kansas City native, he was a notable outside shooter at Rockhurst High School and later played NCAA Division II Basketball at Lincoln University before transferring to Rockhurst University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and an MBA. Returning to this area after law school in Michigan, he started Kansas City Sports Academy to help basketball players in high school and college develop not only their playing skills, but enduring life skills as well. Ivan continues to serve the Academy as Boys Program Director. He is also on the Board of Directors for Spofford Home for at-risk children.
