Gordon Parks Elementary School has been an amazing support system for our family as my girls’ progress through their academic growth. As a single mother, the support that Gordon Parks provides is second to none including the teachers in the classroom, the CARE team who provide support beyond any other charter school in Kansas City, MO, the specials teachers including art, music, physical education and computers and the support staff. Everyone in the building is willing to be on your student’s team to help them grow and achieve.
The leadership and staff at Gordon Parks have created a culture of inclusiveness and respect. I always feel welcome and I feel encouraged to have open conversations with teachers and staff about the education my girls are receiving. The minute you walk into the building, it’s likely you feel a moment of nostalgia as the building has been well taken care of and reminds me of my childhood school house.
The school offers a variety of opportunities for the students to explore a few different interests they may have including Girls on the Run, a boys’ basketball team for 3rd and 4th graders and a photography club. There are always new ideas and new programs popping up.
I know my girls are in the best hands in Kansas City, MO. The decision I made to be part of the Gordon Parks family was one of the best and most rewarding decisions I’ve made as a mother.
