Cathy Cowan, University Academy Parent
From the very first day my son stepped onto the UA campus, he was welcomed by the art
teacher, Mr. A, who not only guided him to his classroom but left a lasting impression.
My son recounts his initial encounter with Mr. A every time we walk through the school
hallways, emphasizing the warm welcome that set the tone for his UA experience.
In 3rd grade, he had the privilege of having Mr. Turner as his teacher, and the
connection was instant. Their shared roots in Atlanta created a special bond, and Mr.
Turner’s dedication was evident even beyond the classroom, as he took time out of his
weekend to attend one of my son’s club basketball games.
Moving on to 4th grade, Mr. X became another beloved figure in this academic journey.
We are convinced that everyone in our household now understands and appreciates Mr.
X’s greatness, thanks to my son’s enthusiastic storytelling. Mr. X’s impact goes beyond
the classroom, as evidenced by his attendance at my son’s birthday party, creating
lasting memories.
In 5th grade, my son continues to rave about Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Collins. Their
influence on his love for science and writing, as well as the high regard he holds for
them, speaks volumes. Mrs. Jackson’s stellar reputation preceded her, thanks to my
daughter who had her and Mrs. Collins [in fifth grade] has sparked a newfound interest
in science.
Lastly, Mr. Hadjian has been an invaluable influence in my son’s life through the
Robotics team. His involvement in Robotics, initiated with a simple “Sure, I’ll try it”, has
since flourished into a genuine passion. His participation in NSBE’s career fair opened
his eyes to diverse professions not widely known in our community.
When we relocated from Atlanta, I was anxious about choosing the right school for my
children. UA has surpassed our expectations, providing a nurturing and enriching
environment that mirrors our positive experiences in Atlanta. Their dedication has made a significant difference in my
children’s educational journey.
