Understanding KCPS Neighborhood Schools
Neighborhood schools are tuition-free public schools that are part of Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS). Any child who lives in the KCPS boundaries, is guaranteed a seat at a neighborhood school. Sometimes families choose to request a neighborhood school in a different neighborhood and this request is granted by KCPS when space allows.
Kansas City Public Schools have a path that aims to keep students who are in the same neighborhood elementary school together for their whole K-12 career. Students who attend elementary or middle school at a KCPS signature school, can jump onto this path when they’re ready for high school.
