Michele Gregory, 12th grade parent
My son entered Rockhurst High School as a freshman and is now a senior. We chose Rockhurst because we knew he would be challenged by his teachers and peers throughout his four years. Rockhurst encourages the boys to interact with the administration, teachers, and coaches on their own behalf.
The students challenge and support one another and encourage each other to grow as men, for and with others. The teachers do a phenomenal job of making themselves available to students for additional assistance with classes and homework, either before or after school. Rockhurst is continually making changes to keep up with technology and modern teaching methods. They have updated classrooms to fit the STEAM initiative, adding adjustable desks and chairs, wrap-around white boards, and projectors.
The field house is getting updated for the Rockhurst sports teams. Rockhurst has over 50 clubs for the boys to join providing opportunities to meet others with similar interests. There are plenty of opportunities for the parents to meet, mingle and get involved. Each class has monthly luncheon gatherings for the mothers. Rockhurst will ask for volunteers to assist with the school’s auction, stuff envelopes, greet visitors, all which allow for you to meet other families.
Rockhurst provides ways for your son to give back, such as tutoring the Hurtado Scholars or tutoring at the Student Success Center. Rockhurst offers many rewarding opportunities for the boys to travel, to assist in giving back to communities, choir performances, trade fairs, debates, sports, or international service projects.
