Shannon Ortbals, 1st, 3rd, and 6th grade parent
I am the Mom of three kids at St. Peter’s Catholic School. It is a pillar in the Brookside neighborhood, and our family is proud to have been here for the last seven years. We chose this school for our kids based on its great reputation but we now appreciate it for the sense of belonging and community it gives our children and family.
The principals are true leaders and set the welcoming environment for all who walk in the door. They create the positive tone for their staff to do what they do best. The teachers genuinely care about my kids and what is best for them. I know they are partners with me along the journey; whether my child needs extra help or needs to be challenged; I can count on them to help. Â The Catholic education helps develop my children spiritually too – they learn how to help others, give back, and make a difference.
St. Peter’s offers before and after-school care so kids can have a supervised place to play and do homework while parents are at work. Enrichment classes are always a favorite and include multiple classes ranging from drama to dance to chess. Students in grades 3rd-8th can participate in a variety of sports in the Parochial Sports League. Parent volunteers are always welcome and highly encouraged. I’ve gotten involved at St. Peter’s and have this place to thank for making my life more fulfilled, too.
